Hi tim roland welcome to Javaranch ,

I doubt if there is something as good as Javaranch

There are many C forums out there, maybe you should Google for one.
One I knew but never used was programmersheaven or something similar.

I have read about 20 books on C. Granted, that was in the 80's. I then taught C and C++ for a long time - plus made lots of shareware/freeware contributions.

There are forums here where you can ask about C.

But here is the most important advice you will ever get about C: Read the first 2/3 of the K&R book. It is a small, expensive book. About $40. The last third of the book is lousy reference stuff. Most C programmers suck. And if you work on a team of C programmers, their crap will shoot holes in any decent code. In my experience, every C programmer that sucked had never read the K&R book. And every excellent programmer did.

It has everything to do with getting your head completely around the concept of pointers. And having good programmer discipline. The K&R book will get the pointer stuff to stick in your head proper. Other books just don't (didn't) seem to do that.

Good luck!

those pointers! java has made our life so easy... the thing that I always hated about C was the "documentation" which barely made any sense (then!) unless it was accompanied an example.

$40 is cheap if the information is good!

(I might need to pick that book up myself. )
