Another WROX book, Java Server Programming J2EE Edition, mentioned that using stored procedures isn't consistent with the tenets of the J2EE specification. How do you think should we handle it? Should we place Strings representing our stored procedures in our web.xml file as context-params?
I think what they meant was that J2EE logic serves the same purpose as stored procedures, except that apparently stored procedures in some DBMS's are not as efficient as traditional programming. I'd suppose that it also keeps programmers out of the DBMS and DBA's out of the programming business.
An IDE is no substitute for an Intelligent Developer.
