I am so confused about this. everything used to be fine. now windows only runs if i have no autoexec.bat
I had a trojan that added lines to it but i deleted them. I think problem is i have this line
PATH=c:\jdk1.3\bin
and that says dont look anywhere else
i saw an example that looked like this
PATH C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\JDK1.3.1\BIN
I have also seen
PATH=%PATH%;"C:\Program Files\Mts"
IM guessing %PATH% means include current path or something
should statement have an = sign or not?
it is all so confusing and none of the links i goto seem to really explain what mine should look like or explain DOS syntax

I use the foll. line...
set PATH=%PATH%;C:\jdk1.2.2\bin
what this does:
- sets the PATH variable.
- %PATH% means "echo the PATH variable set earlier"
- then adds the ; semi-colon to the end of the echoed path
- add the new stuff C:\jdk1.2.2\bin at the end
Important things to keep in mind:
- DONOT add a semi-colon at the end of the lines.
Foll. the disscussion abv, if these are the lines
in the autoexec.bat file:

regds.
- satya

that helps thanks but it bring up something else
should i say
PATH C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\JDK1.3.1\BIN
or
PATH=C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\JDK1.3.1\BIN
or
set PATH=C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\JDK1.3.1\BIN
assuming that is the correct path
anyone know where i can get a Bill Gates dummy to beat up?

path=xxxx would be good.

Here is a link to another site's forums. This site (www.pcguide.com) is an excellent hardware/configuration resource. It also has UBB forums.
