REDIRECT_URL

if i handle 404 errors in Apache (using the ErrorDocument directive), how i get to the REDIRECT_URL attribute from a servlet? Is it in the request? I've tried examining all the parameters / attributes and headers, but i cannot find it - i know it's available in Perl(from $ENV{})!
