# probability of salary arriving on a friday

This one is easy; just came up on a lazy prod support 3rd shift.

Most of us get paid twice a month. And if the 15th or end of month falls on a weekend, the salary is paid on the friday.

Why is it that it seems that salary arrives more often on friday than any other day?

Show the reason why, as a probability.

Probability of Salary Day being a Monday = 1/7
Probability of Salary Day being a Tuesday = 1/7
Probability of Salary Day being a Wednesday = 1/7
Probability of Salary Day being a Thursday = 1/7
Probability of Salary Day being a Friday = prob(Fri) + Prob (sat) + Prob(Sun)
= 1/7 + 1/7 + 1/7
= 3/7

Hence you feel that the salary mostly arrives on a Friday

Yes this is the right solution that's why we usually thinks that we get our salary mostly on friday.

For new upcoming salary which I really got this month also on Friday. So that's why we use to celebrate "Good Friday.
Isn't it.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
