Hi,
I have some clients that would want to access their DB using their wireless phones. I know there are java enabled phones out there on the market, but can they communicate with a servlet?

Sure, why not? Anything that understands TCP/IP can talk to a servlet. If you want to experiment, get the J2ME Wireless Toolkit - it is quite a nice system and includes phone emulators.

There really is a huge amount of activity in the wireless Java / J2ME area.
