Overwriting ServletInputStream

Ok- we have an issue with one of our pages- its a rather heavy page, which is posted(VIA POST- NOT GET) to a Servlet. We're using Websphere 3.5 with IIS as webserver. So anyways- when this page gets large- the request does not seem to contain the whole page that is posted. So we're not getting all of the data back that we need.
My first question is- has anyone had similar experiences? If so- how did you solve it.
I'm considering writing a class that extends ServletInputStream that is a "buffer" class-
whereby I buffer the input stream coming in- we'll tag up the page with XML tags, and read in the inputstream and then parse/search through the resulting string object. Since the request object is immutable- I really can't do a whole heck of a lot with it.
Let me know what you think about this approach, and whether you have any better suggestions.
