Hi there,
Please advise (and I am a servlet newbie),
What does GenericServlet.log() do? Is this implemented by servlet container provider? If it is , then where does Tomcat implementation for it lie? How do I enable logging if it is disabled?(do i edit server.xml? and how?)
I know these are a lot of questions but any hints would be helpful.
Thanks.

GenericServlet.log() is to write the specified message to a servlet log file. Most web servers and servlet engines keep a set of logs that track information about the usage of the web server.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
