Hi. Thanks for all the answers, that was a real treat for me. One last one today : why would the session id of the original GET be different from the session ID of the subsequent POST when using a URLConnection ??? Thanks for all the hints , tips etc

If you are creating the HttpURLConnection you have to emulate a browser by storing and sending cookie information. Take a look at the headers that the response to the first GET returns, you should find something that is an obvious session cookie. Bill
