I'm new to this Java thing - Could anyone tell me how to install additional packages and then add the documentation to the rest of the API? I downloaded the servlet.jar to try to learn JSP and nothing "appeared" to happen when clicking. Any help to get up and running would be great!

To get started with servlets you should download and install Tomcat from jakarta.apache.org. The installation instructions and the examples are quite good.
The JavaDocs that come with it don't automatically integrate into the SDK docs, there is a separate starting index.html file.
