why do you want to upload using ftp? why use a servlet solution to do ftp? Let me say that I havent as yet seen a point to doing ftp with a servlet, just as it is very rare to see servlets being used for smtp - i think you will find that most people will point you in the direction of an alternative solution - for one thing, you would need a container that provides the support for ftp that the servlet would need. Since FTP is a very clearly defined process (it is not like a content management system but rather (if rather crudely) a system for transferring files to remote destinations. As a result, unless you are wanting to provide some kind of CMS system for web management that uses FTP, building the container would obviate the need for the servlet itself.

For FTP you might want to try Freshmeat:

This is something a coworker used. It is a client API.
