vague things that dont mean anything - have you got any links to your claim its badly written? i can understand it not working very well - the site claims its very early in development. You are probably better off writing in RTF which word will open no problem if youcan.

hi chanoch
well sorry for not posting links to things ive heard....
but if you have time to spend check the javaranch forum. i dont recall what forum it was neither do i remember who it was (which makes searching a little hard....) but in the post it was mentioned that there is bad (none at all) exception handling, no documentation of the code and that it doesnt work properly. i have to agree that this is a little vague...
btw: ill use POI in one of my projects in the next months. maybe i know better afterwoods.

Kirtikumar, if all you are trying to do is to emit a document that Word can read, you might want to explore emitting RTF (Rich Text Format) rather than a bona fide Word document.
Word (and many other applications on multiple platforms) will be able to read and display the RTF file, and it's a lot easier to generate than the proprietary (and constantly changing) Word format.
hth,
bear

If you've tried POI, pls post a report here, I do not need to use it yet but may be in the future, I briefly took a look to the site and it seems that it doesn't have any tutorial on how to use the program POI?
To Bear,
Any API for outputting to RTF?
Thanks

Hi Bear,
I have already accomplished the task to generate a rtf file. It opens up in doc, no doubt about that. But this will work only for simple text.
What if i want to include an image in the rtf file ? I simply tried reading the image file and outputting it in the rtf file. It didn't work for me.
Rgds,
