I have a page in dhtml, javascript on the client site. On user interaction there will be
changes on the page (dhtml). On the server side i want to maintain a XML DOM tree
for the page and make changes to it reflecting the client side changes.
These would be like changing attributes of elements.Add ,delete elements etc.

soln : The client page in a JSP ,maintain the DOM tree on the server in a servlet.
problem is that I from the servlet I only want a response like update successful or failed.
i do not want the page to change on the client side.
Any suggestion ? Please reply if u can tell me how to do it.

You can create an invisible frame and through this you can exchange data between servlet and the client side page. Based on the response from the server, make necessary changes on the client side.
