is there any time-aware listeners that i can implement to perform certain tasks at certain point of time?
I need to do some daily initialization for my webapp at early morning, say 2am. I am using tomcat v4.1 and linux system.

Try jcrontab framework - it is free, and you will have unix-like cron file to setup whgat you need !
