Tomcat (http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/) is the offical reference implementation of the servlet and JSP specs and is written in Java. You can download the source easily for free.

I have a list of some available open-source servlet containers, and some advice about choosing one, on my web site at http://www.servletshop.com/advice/containers.html
