If sessions opened in Java, how can it be closed?

Hello,
If a legacy Java servlet that I inherited opens a session in Oracle via any enduser worldwide with a browser, is there a way for Java to close that connection after a certain amount of time? I feel stupid asking this question as there are probably multiple ways and it would depend on the code but I'm wondering if there is a method I should look into to start? I have been s"solving" the problem inelegantly in Oracle but would like to have it fixed in the actual Java code that's starting the sessions. Any and all help will be very much appreciated. I'll be working through the weekend so if you reply I'll see it. Thanks!!

Actually, I don't think it is a Servlet session that Barbara is asking about, but an Oracle database session.

This topic is a duplicate of one already asked in the JDBC forum.
