Is anyone bothered as much as me by the constant use of non-English words on the forums of this site? ppl for people Tnx for Thanks u for you pls for please etc. etc. etc. It really irritates me and if I was offering a job I would immediately ignore anyone that responed with this kind of crappy attempt at shorthand. Is this becoming the accepted way to write when something is computer related?
With regarding to responding for jobs, I think professionalism is a must. You cant use shortcuts like you stated above. I dont mind them in other fourms such as meaningless drivel..as long as they are standard shourtcuts. If you just to lazy to type and you make up a abreviation then I would disagree.... I guess for most people it is just easier. My 2 Cents Faisal
There is nothing wrong with using abbreviations if it can be understood by the reader. I am surprised that you are irked by these mild abbreviations. If you want to see hard core abbreviations you should get a job in our industry. Here is a sample. QU FCOKLAF .AMSKZKL G271930Z ATTN HARRY PSGRS 2GIBBS/AMR/BMRS TRVLD AF154/26JUL NCE/CDG/AMS STP 2 PC BGG NOT FND STP PRESUMED BGG WAS OFFLDD IN ERROR AT CDG STP STP PLS CHK YR END AND ADV IF FOUND STP PSGR TO CONN KL215/28JUL AMS/ORD STP PLS FWD BAGG ON FRAV FLT TO ORD TO ORDKZUA STP DESCR BRWN SAMSONITE STCASE ND DRK BLUE RCKSCK STP HWS THE WIFE AND KIDZ STP SELF COMING OVER ON DUTY TRVL NEXT WEEK STP GIVE ME A RING WILL PAINT TWN RD TOGETHER STP RGDS CHARLIE
If you want to remove all meaning completely, you can do the 14 year-old hacker thing and start substituting numbers for letters cos then you'll be l33t. (i hate myself for even that little bit) Dave ps: actually, I'm pretty guilty of using 'ppl' but i've gotten over u, ur, cu l8r, etc. Mostly. More or less.

But when you see people responding to job offers with :
pls give me addr. i am looking fwrd to hearing from u.
I think it's brutal. If I got a response like this to a job I offered; not only would I deny him immediately, I would also actively try to prevent him from getting a job anywhere else in thw world. This would be my mission.
