Nathan is only partly right...
the carrier pigeons actualy carry the code elves that transport all of the data from one place to the other.

Damn, I wish I had the link. There is an RFC titled something like "Low Bandwidth Avian based networks" that sets up the specification for... you guessed it, an network based on carrier pigeons.
