JLabel problem

hi guys,
i got some problem with putting the values into empty JLabel field.Following is the code segment.i am trying to put some values in empty JLabel field after retriving from database.it is retriving from database fine but not putting into JLabel field.

namet=new JLabel("",JLabel.CENTER);
aget=new JLabel(" ",JLabel.CENTER);
emailt=new JLabel(" ",JLabel.CENTER);

pane.add(namel);
pane.add(agel);
pane.add(email);

namet.setText(str3);
aget.setText(str4);
emailt.setText(str8);

plz help....
