I need to pass data entered from one webserver to another webserver which would be in a totally different machine.
Could I do this by using only weberver?

Thanks,

one way is to create a URLConnection to other webserver from a servlet running in one webserver and pass the data in an OutputStream (obtained from the URLConnection)

There are quite a few ways to do this. Which one is best, depends on your requirements.
Here are some keywords you can use in Google:
  • RMI
  • JMS
  • Web Services
  • SOAP
  • FTP (still has it's uses )
  • NFS
  • SAMBA
  • EJB
  • Session Replication
  • Load Balancing

  • Some open source implementations for some of the mentioned technologies
    http://xml.apache.org/axis
    http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/httpclient
    http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/net

If you can list your requirements in more detail, someone here may be able to recommend something more specific.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
