I deployed a web application and it works fine on my machine. However, in other people's machine, when I use IE browser to see the index.jsp, everytime I see a HTTP 500 error page, but when I hit "refresh" button the page shows and everything works from there. I tried to redploy and tried to remove the old WAR and deploy the entire new one. But this still happens on their machines. What could be the problem ?

thanks.

Hi Artemsia, the first thing I would do is create a simple jsp and deploy it. Then check the other clients to see if you get the server error. If you do, maybe it's a configuration issue. If you don't, it's something specific to your war application.

Sometimes connectivity/firewall issues may interfere depending on the client's Internet security settings as well. I've seen "strange" behavior due to this.

500 is an internal server error. It seems that the request is reaching the server fine, but that the server is unable to process it. Did you check the logs? What is the stack trace for the error? Do you own the source code?

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
