Has any Javarancher read any work by Edward Said?
I read "Orientalism" and found it very interesting.

I have found him to be an apologist for every bad thing that the Arab world has ever done. It's never the fault of the Arabs according to Said. It is always the fault of Jews and the Western media.

He, of course, is partial as anybody else but I found his analysis of "Oriental Studies" quite challenging and worth reading, if only to confute it
Thomas, which were the articles or books that you found apologetical?

I have read at least parts of (I find it difficult to read one his books because at some point I always end up throwing it out a window): "The Question of Palestine" and "Covering Islam". I have also read many of his short essays.
