hi
I think A web application may have less or more than 100 servlets ? If so is there any necessity to provide servlet name and url-pattern for each servlet in web.xml
thanks in advance

What ever the number of servlets. It makes things a whole lot easier when you drive it off web.xml. Some things are not possible at all without doing so.

You could also explore the Front Comtroller pattern.

I think we need to provide the details for each and every servlet inside the web.xml for us to use them.
