Hi,

if i am putting a jar file of all the classes in the lib directory instead of putting class files in the classes directory do i have write something into web.xml or the container will automatically use the class files in the jar file if it doesn't find the classes in the classes directory??

You don't have to do anything special, as long as the class is in a JAR in the lib directory, the server will find it.

Hi,

does it work ( ie putting class files in jar form in a lib folder) with all servers ie with websphere , weblogic and tomcat.

when we will do this instead of class files in classes folder, does it increase performance of application?

Thanks,
Prakash

It works for all servers, because it is defined to work that way in the Servlet specification.

Runtime performance benefits are most likely to be negligible.
