Hi,
I'm trying to build a banking application using servlets. I'm trying to build a servlet that checks connection to a database, retrieves the account information based on the username and password and display that info. Is there a built-in servlet anywhere that accomplishes this task of log-in? I'm a total new comer to J2EE trying to learn by myself. Could anyone give me links to resources that I could use. The application seems simple in functionality but complex to implement.
Thanks

Yes, you can get the container to manage authentication for you. Depending on your requirements, you should look at Basic authentication or farm based authentication. My preference: form.

First thing...you must have very good idea about Java Web Application Architecuture. How you can configure and use servlets, web.xml, web-app directory structure etc. Good serverlet Container is Apache Tomcat. If you don't know these, I think it is useless even if you get ready made code

Resources, Of course java.sun.com
