In clustered environment, is it safe to put object in HttpRequest ? Should we always put them in HttpSession if it is a clustered environment ?

What basis do you have for wondering why request scope might not be "safe"?

Since a request only lasts the duration of a 'request', it shouldn't matter if you're in a clustered environment.
The machine that recieves the request will be the one making the response.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
