My choice would be "Head First Servlets & JSP" by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates.

I just read that this book can bhe used for web certification exam. I do not have much experience with programming but when I head to work..I move along with things. Hope this is good for a novice who has close nothing in programming?

You do need some background on Java. If you're looking for a book about web development/J2EE development, maybe you should look for something else.
There are other books outthere about general development practices.
