Servlet Chaining, is this a good thing or bad thing to do?

I'm not sure if I put the proper term... But here's what I'm trying to do...

JSP request -> Servlet -> Servlet -> view


the reason why I foward to another servlet is because the view needs some request data to fill up a drop down list. Is this ok? Or is this considered a bad practice?

It's actually quite common to separate out servlets that perform an action, and those that prepare a page for view. See this article.
