then which method are declared as abstract

There is NO requirement for a class declared as abstract to have any methods declared abstract.
Since a GenericServlet or HttpServlet instance would do nothing there is no reason to create an instance.

Designers use abstract in cases like this to remind you that you have to create an extension to do anything useful.
