i accidentally stayed up and saw the financial news..ill sleep now since it is even more unlikely i will get a job in the morning. i remember 1983 i got by recycling aluminum cans(well sort of got by)
That has been Randys problem all along. He is perfectly skilled to get a bunch of jobs - IF he would go to where the job is. However when you live in the remote NorthWest - sort of removed from any large community . . . . .

Randy I am not in a position to know of everythign sorrounding your situation .However heres what I feel is the present situation. After the sept 11th attacks a lot of govt jobs have opened up (Even though private firms are laying off people by the thousands). These Govt jobs require only a Security clearance for American citizens and after that it seems to be a piece of cake even in these tough times. Obviously this is not open to people like me from outside of the US. Try looking up the Washington Post 'Jobs Available' Section.Just might work out!!! But you seem to be somewhere up North .So I cant say if this is helpful to you.

Yeah... I'm definitely convinced we are heading straight for a 1981-1982 recession. That means unemployment hitting 10%+. Also, I expect a massive drop in housing value as the market is flooded with homes people can't afford to pay for anymore. The financing deals in the last 3-5 years have allowed millions of people to purchase under terms that were unthinkable 10 years ago (no money down, low income:debt ratios etc.) Interest rates aren't going to be able stay this low forever either... once the government starts running big deficits, interest rates will have to go up. The next couple years are gonna be real bad.
there have been some programming jobs around here that i barely met qualifications for but i never got interviewed. without a degree in CS it would be hard even if times were better. portland is not really that lacking in programming jobs but right now they can hire people with more college and more experience than me. so i figure on going back to school for a few years if i dont get evicted before next quarter starts. i worked a whole 8 days this month woohoo
Randall, isn't 8 days of work is better than 0 days of work? You can't always have the life you want so why not live the life you have. You may be surprised one day to find your are living the life you want
yeah 8 days is better than 0 but not enough to pay the rent. they did get me work starting monday though. hopefully my brother in law can lend me rent money so i dont have to move into my car.
