Hello all
i have http engine that process files with extension *.ppc this engine reads the pages send to him
and parses it and returns html output , it using its own script lang
what i plan is to implement this engine in to tomcat .
my question is can i make tomcat to read the *.ppc files other then jsp and redirect it to this engine to do its process
and return its html output?

Thanks

There is nothing Tomcat-specific about this question, so I've moved it to the Servlets forum.

You can easily map the *.ppc pattern to a servlet. The servlet can invoke whatever processes the file and returns its result as the response.

If it's an inhouse file type, what kind of processing do you want done with it.

Do you have software for processing these files?
If so, what's it written in?

If not Java, does it follow the CGI specs?

well its more complex then that it does not do any execution on the server it is simple parser to in-house script written in c++

its reads the ppc syntax and output html via http , i plan to make this engine as dll ( or so in unix ) and wrap it with JNI

what do you say .. good idea?

If it's not Java and it's not CGI, then there is nothing in either Tomcat or the servlet spec that you need to know.
