Question: Do you guys have any of this crap to post that doesn't come from the Times of India?
Haven't read the article, I have no intention to. However, the Bin Ladens are a wealthy Saudi family who have disowned that nutcase Osame. The nutcase has even lost his Saudi citizenship. His relatives have gone on record on numerous occasions denouncing him. I am sure that the Bin Ladens have business dealings with many people all over the world. So even if Bush and the Bin Ladens are throwing back brewskis together at shareholder meetings, this is a non-story. Further, people who happen to hold shares in the same company are probably no more linked than two people who pay to go see the same movie (think of the headline, "Bush and Bin Ladens linked, they have both seen Titanic").
So seeing as any links between Bush and the Bin Laden familiy are a non-story, it makes me wonder about the Times of India's motivations. I have seen similar crap from them posted fairly constantly here. It makes me think they have an agenda. A newspaper with an agenda? I know, it's hard to believe.
Try again please.

i didn't read the article, either... no need to.
like Jason said, the bin Laden family is HUGE. i bet some of us here at JavaRanch could come up with some sort of connection to the family... especially since Osama had a brother in college at Harvard.

yea, the 6-degree thing... i actually have a link to Kevin Bacon.
one of the high schools close to me is Osborn High School and Julia Roberts went there about the time i was going to Marietta High.
a friend that i played soccer with took Julia to our high school prom because she was a friend of the family (she really isn't all that attractive, and Osborn High school is where all the losers went, so it was not a big deal then).
she starred in "Flatliners" with Kevin Bacon... so i guess that makes:
Kevin Bacon
Julia Roberts
Robbie (my soccer teammate)
Me... 3 degrees.

NY Times: George Bush, Sr. ties to bin Laden family
George Bush, Sr. works in a consulting position for the bin Laden family business in Saudi Arabia through the Carlyle Group, an international consulting firm. The senior Bush had met with the bin Laden family at least twice.
The NY Times is reporting that George Bush, Sr. works for the bin Laden family business in Saudi Arabia through the Carlyle Group, an international consulting firm. The senior Bush had met with the bin Laden family at least twice. Officially the bin Laden family has disowned Osama, yet the FBI is currently investigating the families holdings, including the Carlyle Group.

So what you are trying to say is...
1.Osama
2. Osama's family who disowned him and still hold their Saudi Citizenship
3. The Carlyle group the Bin Laden family has interests in
4. George Bush Sr, hired as a consultant by the Carlyle group
5. George Bush Jr is George Sr's son
6. Kevin Bacon voted for George Jr
6-degrees from Osama to Kevin Bacon.

So you are saying that Bush is going too easy on bin Laden because of his fathers business connections?
Ha. I would hate to see what would happen if he quit being so easy on him.

It comes from the Times Of India Website. But the source of the news is BBC.

LONDON: FBI agents in the United States probing relatives of Saudi-born terror suspect Osama Bin Laden before September 11 were told to back off soon after George W Bush became president, the BBC has reported.
The BBC's Newsnight current affairs programme on Tuesday said that Bush at one point had a number of connections with Saudi Arabia's prominent Bin Laden family.
It added there was a suspicion that the US strategic interest in Saudi Arabia, which has the world's biggest oil reserve, blunted its inquiries into individuals with suspected terrorist connections -- so long as the US was safe.
Newsnight reported it had seen secret documents from an FBI probe into the September 11 terror attacks that showed that at least two other US-based members of the Bin Laden family are suspected to have links with a possible terrorist organisation.
The programme said it had obtained evidence that the FBI was on the trail of Bin Laden family members living in United States before, as well as after, the terrorist attacks.
Newsnight said Bush made his first million 20 years ago with an oil company partly funded by the chief US representative of Salem Bin Laden, Osama's brother.

I wish the people of Bihar were more like you guys. They ask too many awkward questions .

For those who continue to believe everything they read.
For those who believe everything they see.
Media all over the world write and allow things to be said that can't be verified. It increases circulation because many who refuse to think for themselves believe what they read. And if you believe everything on TV remember the exploding GM gas tanks that wouldn't. The show added a little charge to make it happen.
