If controller servlet is a singleton then how the application mainmtains scalability?
Is there any pool of threads are created in advance to process a number of clients requests at a time?
If so where do we get this information about pooling?
How does a website like yahoomail can process millions of clients requests at a time?

Thread pooling is an implementation issue that is not covered by the servlet spec.

If you want to learn more about it, you might try downloading the source code to some of the open source containers (Tomcat, Resin, Jetty, etc..) to see what they're doing.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
