When post method has a lot of advantage over the get method, what is reason for it being used still? Is it because that it is the default method to handle the request? Or is there any other specific reason for that?

According to whom?

Each method has a distinct role in the HTTP protocol. A GET should be used to create idempotent requests for server resources. A POST for potentially non-idempotent operations.

They should not be used in place of each other at a whim.
