C# is Java
I guess it is a victory of Sun and not of MicroSoft.
By the way I happily browse with Opera which is faster and safer than Internet Explorer and it is even MDI.

I assume that Cringely gets paid by Microsoft. "When Java came to market five years ago, it was bulky, slow, and buggy. Today, five years later, Java is still bulky slow, and buggy." What stupidity! Java is the de facto standard for server side development and is handling some of the busiest web sites on the internet without any problems. Cringely must hang out in Seattle to get his Java "facts".

LoL
What a BS . I would understand if he was telling that there are going to be more C# programmers but him announcing "the Death of Java" is a sign of his Ignorance.
He needs a life.

The article does what it's supposed to do, generate a whole lotta feedback. It's interesting to me how Cringely teeters between a triumphantly shallow technical understanding and a strong conviction that corporate power-plays override technology (which I happen to agree with).
Java is slow. Any idiot can say that. Big business will trump IT departments every time. Duh. And yet the guy generates email. He can't be doing everything wrong, can he?

Yah, i think C# will b n important technology with a few years and specially for Microsoft Programmers who were working with VB. But it does not mean that we have to think of learning or switching to C#! As Java is one of the most widely supported language & platform and .net/C# will take a lot more years to grow or mature!!
I think these two will always go paralally!

Cringley writes...
"Sun's cross-platform, write-once-run-anywhere language was going to free us all from the tyranny of Microsoft and Visual BASIC, but it simply hasn't happened. "
Marcus Recommends:
Do a little personal/practical research, go to any job web site and search on the terms Visual Basic and then Java (to be really careful see if you can filter out the entries that include JavaScript. You will find that there are as many or more Java jobs as VB. Seeing that VB had a 3 or 4 year head start, I'd say that is pretty good going ..

To be really, really fair you also have to exclude the VBSCript entries or active server pages because they are even farther apart than Java and JavaScript.
