Not sure if you all know this already or not, but those of us 'lucky' enough to be @home subscribers may lose service Friday. This is as a result of Excite@Home going belly-up, and some kind of potential judicial decision that may come down on Friday. You can read a bit about it here.
Some cable companies have set up their own networks so that they will be covered. On the other hand, some have not. Illustrious Comcast@Home has a wonderful contingency plan they have come up with. They are suggesting to their subscribers to get a netzero (crappy dial-up free ad-serving isp) account just in case. . I think I have heard Shaw@Home and AT&T@Home have set up their own network, maybe Rogers@Home as well.

Mine is through insight and haven't heard from them yet other than we are preparing backup plans.

Blistering download maybe, not so much upload from what I understand. Not to mention the latency issues. This pretty much kills its usefulnees for games doesn't it?

The thing that really upsets me is that the purpose of disconnecting service is that Excite, angry with a low buyout bid from AT&T, is hoping that upsetting the subscribers by disconnecting their service will force a higher per share price for their sellout.
