I think everybody here will agree that this forum is the most enlightening, most important, most ... Ok, Ok, you got my idea. Then do not you think it's not fair that "Java in General" has three subdivision and we do not have any? What about two new meaningless forums, so it would be "Meaningless Drivel (beginner)", "Meaningless Drivel (intermediate)", and "Meaningless Drivel (advanced)"?

How about
"Meaningless Drivel (amusing)",
"Meaningless Drivel (interesting)",
"Meaningless Drivel (soapbox including politics)"

How 'bout:
Not so meaningless Drivel (for our more philosphical debates)
Meaningless drivel (for all the funny, games and puzzle types of posts)

I like beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Too often beginner MDers try to get involved in advanced topics. They need to work their way up to it.

Actually, beginner-intermediate-advanced classification is orthogonal to other proposed. For example, "Pseudonymous Postings Only" can vary from "Simple Pseudonymous Postings" (beginner) to "Highly Convincing Impersonations" (advanced) - you know what I am talking about.
This thread is another example of "Meaningless Drivel (advanced)"

Admit it, you just posted that so you could add 'orthogonal.'

Joseph, meaningless/not-so-meaningless dichotomy was (unsuccessfully) discussed here.
(just wanted to add 'dichotomy' )

The whole problem with the "beginner/intermediate/advanced" schema is that we have to rely on everyone applying the same standards when determining in which forum to post. That would never happen, especially given the innate difficulties with defining, precisely, what is the difference between beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

But that exactly where fun is! Only imagine three moderators fighting over where some post should go
Tom, before Mike beat us on it, we should usurp MD-A & MD-I and leave him deal with MD-B.

You're going to need a fourth category, Meta-MD, for all the threads, like this one, which discuss the forum itself.

Make it a "Meta Forum" rather than a "Meta-MD Forum".
Then it can be contained in the set of all forums that contain themselves
But then, isn't that the Javaranch forum... So does that mean they are the same forum, are both in the set or what? The are hardly mutually exclusive in content.
