Word Document not opening properly

Hi All,
I am having a problem when trying to access a document from an remote application which is being called from my application.when i click a link which opens the document in that remote application,the document is getting opened with some special charecters which are making the document unreadable.
Request you all to help me out.

How the browser opens this is dependent on how you stream the data and what the content type of that stream is. You need to give us more details

There should have been some problem in the content type. Expecting more about the problem.......
