Went last night. Surprised at how well they actually followed the book. Great job with the orcs. The biggest problem is 1 year till the next release.

Yes very good job on the movie in general, will be hard to wait another year for the next part. On the other hand, how long have we been getting star wars in installments too?
I bet in a year just before the second one comes out they'll make a killing in theatres with the first one again.

didn't read the book, but thought the movie was great! Was very surprised at the end that there wasn't any resolution to the story, but I guess people that read the book knew that. But I guess the fact that I thought I was only sitting in the theatre for 2 hours shows how captivating the movie was because it was actually over 3 hours.
one aside... I thought that in some scenes that the computer animation was very obvious(not the monsters, but simple scenes like the fellowship walking through the mountain terrain and such)

Jamie that was one of the things I found humorous. When those who didn't read the books left puzzled at the ending. I thought the movie did a good job at showing what Gandalf was up to where in the book. It was much later when you found out he was doing research and was captured.
The Fellowship of the Ring which is what the first movie was ends with the fellowship dissolved.
The Two Towers - The next book/movie will pick up where this one left off. For those that read the book how do you think the bouncing between groups will be handled?
The Return of the King is the last.
