This week's book giveaway is in the Agile and Other Processes forum. We're giving away four copies of Real-World Software Development: A Project-Driven Guide to Fundamentals in Java and have Dr. Raoul-Gabriel Urma & Richard Warburton on-line! See this thread for details.
I've met Paul Wheaton. Hope to have a beer with Jim Yingst in January. Possibly Angela Poynton and Valentin Creattaz too. Those Colorado types I am sure have bumped into each other now and then. There are far, far freakier crowds on the internet than here. Those of us who cause trouble and use MD for our own psychodramas are a tiny, tiny handful of an otherwise sane group.

Yep, I've met Angela the sheriff and Frank the sheriff. They wear stetsons all the time and say things like 'whee doggie' for no apparent reason. Well, ok, maybe they don't do that, but they do drink in pubs and are very personable. And they also know loads about java and other stuff.
I have met them all... actually I have stalked them all although they have never seen me. We use tranquilizer darts and then implant special tracking devices so we can determine their migration patterns.

Oooh that would explain why I can't remember a large part of one night last week ... well it's either that or it had something to do with it being my dept's Christmas party. But of course I behaved myself there and didn't drink more than 2 (bottles ) of wine! So it must have been the tranquiliser darts.
Oh and on the subject of this thread. I've met George Brown, Frank Carver and the (in)famous Marcus Green. All very fun people to be around and all of them so very very knowledgable ... frighteningly so in my opinion!!

Pounding at a thick stone wall won't move it, sometimes, you need to step back to see the way around.

Angela, now that you mention it I have no memory of a recent evening out either. Coincidentally I had been at a pub that night. I had blamed the beer but now I accept that it must have been Thomas with his tranquiliser darts. And I thought I already knew all my stalkers.
Not counting Thomas , I've met Paul Wheaton, Marilyn deQueiroz, and Solveig Haugland. There was also some guy named Simon Roberts at the dinner, but he wasn't a bartender or anything so I figured he wasn't important. Planning to meet up with Michael sometime so I can teach him how to spell better. And of course, I helped develop Mapraputa 1.7 - that counts, right?
