I was wondering whether any of you sheriff's/bartenders/moderators met each other anytime/anywhere?
(Well, after being part of Javaranch family, ofcourse!)

Don't be silly Menon! As long as they are hiding behind their screens they are all cool but if I meet any of them in person, I would probably have nightmares for the rest of my life.

I've met Paul Wheaton. Hope to have a beer with Jim Yingst in January. Possibly Angela Poynton and Valentin Creattaz too. Those Colorado types I am sure have bumped into each other now and then.
There are far, far freakier crowds on the internet than here. Those of us who cause trouble and use MD for our own psychodramas are a tiny, tiny handful of an otherwise sane group.

Never met any of them, and for some strange reason they do not want to come to Detroit to visit me . I did talk to Jane on the phone once .

Yep, I've met Angela the sheriff and Frank the sheriff. They wear stetsons all the time and say things like 'whee doggie' for no apparent reason. Well, ok, maybe they don't do that, but they do drink in pubs and are very personable. And they also know loads about java and other stuff.

I have met them all... actually I have stalked them all although they have never seen me. We use tranquilizer darts and then implant special tracking devices so we can determine their migration patterns.

Oooh that would explain why I can't remember a large part of one night last week ... well it's either that or it had something to do with it being my dept's Christmas party. But of course I behaved myself there and didn't drink more than 2 (bottles ) of wine! So it must have been the tranquiliser darts.

Oh and on the subject of this thread. I've met George Brown, Frank Carver and the (in)famous Marcus Green. All very fun people to be around and all of them so very very knowledgable ... frighteningly so in my opinion!!

Angela, now that you mention it I have no memory of a recent evening out either. Coincidentally I had been at a pub that night. I had blamed the beer but now I accept that it must have been Thomas with his tranquiliser darts.
And I thought I already knew all my stalkers.

Not counting Thomas , I've met Paul Wheaton, Marilyn deQueiroz, and Solveig Haugland. There was also some guy named Simon Roberts at the dinner, but he wasn't a bartender or anything so I figured he wasn't important. Planning to meet up with Michael sometime so I can teach him how to spell better. And of course, I helped develop Mapraputa 1.7 - that counts, right?

These runtime exceptions are going to have to be coded to handle. Perhaps a quick patch and then think about a 2.0 version.
