hi to all,

i am using UBUNTU(linux) and when ever i am compiling .java file(my own servlet ) itz got compiled but while running i am getting file not found. from that what i understood is, the .class file what after compiling did not give execute permission.

another servlet which is compiled on windows environment it is executing.

can any one solve my problem. i am waiting for reply.

getting file not found


What program is giving that message?
Can you copy and paste the full text of the error message here?

Where did you put the compiled .class file relative to the web application?

Are you using Tomcat to run servlets? If so there is plenty of documentation on where class files go already installed on your system.

The .class file does not need execute permission, it is read by the JVM which does the execution.

Have you configured your servlet in the deployment descriptor web.xml?

Are you using Ant script files or Maven? What type of application server are you using? i.e. Tomcat, Websphere, JBoss, etc?
