To create form based authentication, you have to define a security role in the configuration files of the server...
My question is that is this possible in virtual hosting as the server will be shared(not dedicated).
If it is possible how can I do it...
If not then what are the alternatives.. How can I make sure that only authenticated users can access some pages. Is session the only alternative. Even for that how to check that the user is allowed to access a page. Do I need to put the code in every page or can I do it with some application level configuration..
Help of any sort will be very useful
Of-course form based authentication can be implemented in a virtual server.
First of all, there is no need to share the server in the virtual machine. But if it is need, then that is a different case. Just treat virtual machine is like any other machine.
Just go ahead with the steps to make the authentication needs. Package the application. Deploy it in the server reside in virtual machine.
It should work fine!
Please let me know still somthing wrong!!!

Ya you are right....I have found that the solution could be filters....if anybody has done this earlier it will be very useful as I am facing a strict deadline....
Form validation/ authentication is relate to an application and can be implemented with an application hosted in a virtual host.
Any light to this topic will really be appreaciable!
