how to add a filter tag in web.xml as when i tried adding it gave no output as my application is based on struts. so if struts application is there can i add a filter tag in web.xml? if yes how to add it?
i have already added the filter and filter-mapping tag in my web.xml file. but it doesn't work at all.

Struts or otherwise, adding a filter should be no different. You define your filter then map it to whatever URL pattern you want to filter. Filters should never interfere with what is already there. Can you post your filter mapping?

sorry paul for replying so late.i fixed it i just replaced the web.xml with the latest web-app_2_4.xsd file. previously it was giving error no it working.
