My web application needs to read a file in the local system.
What kind of approach should i go for.
Using Server as Tomcat 4.1

any sample code will be easier to incorporate.

Servlet's can only deal with stuff sent from the client. So you need to get the client to upload the file. Have a search through this forum for "upload file" and you'll find loads of examples.
