Java Application to Java Script

Is it possible to access Java application(Not applet) in Javascript? If yes, how?

Please don't multiple post (post the same question to multiple forums) pick the forum that best suits your question and post it there. It's up to us moderators to move it to a more appropriate forum if necessary(and sometimes thats one with more traffic where you may get an answer) I posted an answer to this in the JavaScript forum.
