How this Garbage collector works internally?

I remember reading one article about Garbage Collection, and since all object follows the Multilevel hierarchy, the base "Object" has some code which has to do with this Garbage Collection. And any can tell or refer to any article which gives the comprehensive and internal information about this Garbage Collectior?

No the garbage colletcor is not in Object. It is in the JVM. Since there are lots of vendors out there creating JVM's according to the specifications that Sun puts out, there are lot's of ways that garbage collectors can get implemented.
You would have to go to a specific vendor and ask THEM how they implemented the gc in their JVM.
