Yes. You can have more than one instance of the JVM running on the same machine.

A JVM is a process on a machine. When you invoke two java applications on the same machine, they run in two different JVMs.
Each "java" command starts a new JVM.

Yes you can!You can configure your server to run as one or more web servers; in that case each web server will have one JVM.

I often have IE and Netscape open at the same time running their own JVM at the same time I have a DOS window open testing in a JVM, thats 3 on a regular basis.
You can open multiple DOS windows and start a JVM in each.
