Dates and Times confusion (again)

The date time classes of the Java API must be the most confusing / frustrating setup Sun could possibly think up...
I want to take someones birthday say 21 July 1971
and then check if they have a birthday between two dates say 2 July 2001 and 20 April 2002.
I just can't seem get it right...
Any help suggestions please

Check the java.util.Calendar class.

Or, just use a DateFormat (I usually use SimpleDateFormat) to parse String representations as Date objects. Once you have Dates for all the dates you wish to compare, just use the compareTo() method in Date.
