Everybody knows: English, the language, is boring. In other languages we have words that sound funny, regardless of their meaning (often meaning is funny as well, but not necessarily) Now so with English. However, I managed to find a word that sound funny to me: brouhaha. Now I wonder if it's only me
Do you know other words that sound funny for native speakers (Russians are disqualified and disallowed to participate, because of dirty frame of mind )

Bougainvillea (boog-en-valia) was hilarious when I was a kid, because it sounded like booger.

Munificence makes me think of explosions and bullets, when it should make me think of a generous person.

Supercilious makes me think of people being really silly, when it means the exact opposite.

Punctilious I always used to mispronounce as 'punktily-icous' (think delicious). And well.. it made me hungry.

Shag. obvious.

I think I'll stop now.. I think I'm only making myself sound funny, and not the words.

Speaking of English... it is indeed a very funny language...
Now, think about it ... in which other language would you hear something like...
The nose runs but the feel smell !

It only sounds funny if you're not in one.

I think English far exceeds all other languages in the ability of its words to amuse. I will now provide but one example:
spork

fracas, but mostly in the context of:

Straight Man: Were you kicked in the fracas?
Funny Man: No, but I did get punched in the head

The longest word in the English language is commonly thought to be:
antidisestablishmentantarianism - an extinct English political group
when in fact it is:
pnuemonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis - a lung disease one gets from breathing volcanic dust.
Another interesting tidbit... the game of golf did not originate in Scotland, it was imported there in it's primitive form by the Dutch who called it Spel Metten Kolve
And according to George Carlin you should never eat food that has both a 'Y' and a 'G' in it like yogurt!
