<p>
I'm having problems uninstalling jdk 1.4.0....
I tried reinstall JDK 1.4.0 using Windows' Add/Remove Programs..... But then when I installed the it, the JDK.14.0 item in the Programs list is still there.. and also upon, cheking the directories in Windows Explorer.. the directory for the JDK1.4.0 is still there... SO i deleted the directory myself...
</p>
<p>
And then when i was about to reinstall JDK1.4.0, it generates a message.. prompting me to delete the previously installed version of JDK1.4.0 before I can start installing again... If the add/remove doesn't how do i remove it manually?
where can i find the entries and files needed to properly remove it manually?
</p>
<p>
Help please... don't know what to do...
tnx

Microsoft :roll: I think that the uninstall just removes it from the registry.
You just need to update the Windows Registry. Try
>Start/Run/Regedit.exe
Look under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Javasoft/
You need to update the values Java Development Kit for "Current Version" to say whatever version that you want to use. You may want to update the version for the Runtime Environment also.
If you re-install it it should just overwrite the old files. There really is no need to delete it to switch versions as long as you edit your classpath and path.
